Scarce in open pine forest with scrub palmetto and a thick grass understory. Usually found by listening for its beautiful, variably-pitched, whistled trills. In winter it disappears into wetter and more open areas, where it is very hard to find. Similar to CASP and BASP though ranges don't overlap.
