Bird Description
Very rare Asian visitor. Surprisingly, almost annual with mostly adult records of scattered individuals. ID: 4-yr gull. Unusually, all ages have broad black tail band bordered by white. Medium-sized, long-winged, and long, bicolored bill with unique shape. Medium-gray mantle. Yellow/green legs. Features in combination make ID straightforward. 1st-yr (rarely seen and not shown): medium-brown, paler around face and on vent; pink legs.
