Blue-headed Vireo
Vireo solitarius
BHVI
Order: Passeriformes | Family: Vireonidae (Vireos, Shrike-Babblers, and Erpornis)

Bird Description
Fairly common high up in deciduous forest. Late fall and early spring migrant. Very slow, deliberate movements with upright posture. Song between REVI and YTVI in speed with sweet notes: ‘seeyou seeme,’ ‘ waitup,’ ‘comewithme,’ ‘werin wereout.’ Call a nasty gremlin-like chatter. ID: Strikingly large. Seems dignified, moving slowly with erect posture and smart colors. Often tilts its head to check things out. Bold spectacles are striking on a gray-blue head that contrasts with olive back and bold wing bars. Underparts clean white with pale green flanks. Never appears scruffy! S. Appalachian population averages larger and darker. Ages and sexes similar (juv scruffy for a short period).
