Bird Description

Rare in TX and LA but recorded as far n. as Ontario. Fairly small and stocky with a forked tail when perched. Its two-tone red-and-black bill always stands out. Ad ♂: iridescent greens and blues, darkest on throat and tail with white dot behind eye. ♀/imm: dingy gray below. Diffuse pale supercilium borders gray ear coverts.
