Bird Description

Common summer breeder on Dry Tortugas; rare elsewhere in warm waters. ID: May be confused with juv SOTE but BRNO has uniform brown coloring. This includes the underwing and long graduated/pointed tail. Variably pale on head. Juvs have dullest heads with white supraloral. Adult brighter white forecrown. 1st-s birds have a mixture of imm and adult-type feathers. Black Noddy Anous minutes nearly annual on Dry Tortugas. Like BRNO, but smaller, slimmer, and darker with bolder white forecrown and thinner bill.
