Bird Description

Formerly conspecific with BAOR. W. woodland species. Very rare as far e. as coast. ID: Size, shape, and behavior as BAOR; occasionally hybridizeas. Ad ?: large white wing patch and black eyeline through orange face. Ad ?/1st-yr: very similar to pale 1st-yr ? BAOR. Overall impression is of a paler yellow-and-gray bird. Most important difference is that supercilium and hindneck are yellow. The malar is usually the brightest yellow area (breast on BAOR). The back is grayer and dark centers to median coverts are usually pointed. 1st-s ?: as ? with diagnostic black chin. Song more chattery than BAOR; calls similar.
