Bird Description
Uncommon in desert areas, often near houses. Massive for a wren, it can be hard to place to family. Vocal, a churring series of notes, common on old w. movies. Hops on the ground, perches on cactus, and is often approachable. Large, domed nest familiar site in cactus crook. ID: Big and fat. Dark throat and striking head pattern obvious at distance. There are spots, streaks, and bars just about everywhere.
