Couch's Kingbird
Tyrannus couchii
COKI
Order: Passeriformes | Family: Tyrannidae (Tyrant Flycatchers)

Bird Description
Fairly common in s. TX, particularly in summer, and increasing. Strays to N less than TRKI. Almost identical to TRKI in all respects. Arguably only safely identified by call: an upslurred 'qwe-uurr,' or single/repeated 'pip' notes. Bill often looks noticeably broader-based and shorter. Some brighter and green-backed with stronger contrast to gray head but differences subtle.
