Bird Description
Fairly common in dry scrubby areas, often in suburbs. Occasionally wanders. Sits singing from prominent perches, but just as happy on the ground. Not so shy as some thrashers. Large size and bulk, with long thick downcurved bill, usually distinctive. Bland with blotchy/spotted underparts, grayer on flanks. Juv has much subtler spotting.
