Bird Description
Very rare in late fall and winter. A slim-looking flycatcher with long, narrow tail emphasized by short wings. Narrow-based bill appears long. Lower mandible pale with well-defined dark tip. Deliberately dips tail like a phoebe — this is diagnostic. Plumage tends to be pallid and nondescript. Juv: buffy wing bars and averages brighter plumage. Call a ‘whit.’
