Bird Description
Locally common in woodland in s. TX, particularly near water. A flycatcher that also eats fish. Often sits on open perches. The life of the party, giving loud and noisy ‘kis-ka-dee.’ ID: Large and blocky with a big head and short tail. Bold head pattern, bright yellow underparts with bright rufous wings, particularly striking in flight. Juv: similar to adult with dull crown and more extensive rufous in upperparts.
