Bird Description
Scarce, but getting commoner farther n. Breeds in burrows, which they only enter at night. Found in colder water and rare close to shore. ID: The largest and brownest (palest) storm-petrel with slim proportions and long, strongly-angled wings. Often bounding nighthawk-like flight with deep, jerky wingbeats. Strong pale carpal bar reaches leading edge of wing. Tail forked, but can be difficult to see.
