Bird Description

A ssp of MALL (10% smaller) found close to Mexican border, where MALL is not usually seen. Sexes are alike, resembling female nominate MALL. Brown tail. Overall color intermediate between nominate MALL and ABDU. Very similar to MODU but with grayer leading edge to wing, broader white borders to speculum, subtly bolder face pattern with streaked throat and smaller gape spot. Usually identified by range.
