Bird Description
A bird of open prairies and farmland. Regular stray to E in late fall. Often hovers over fields, otherwise behavior similar to EABL. Noticeably longer and slimmer than EABL with smaller head, longer, more strongly notched tail. Longer-winged with long primary projection. ♂: beautiful sky blue. ♀/1st-w: much duller (fall birds often buff-chested), palest on belly, darker flanks with contrastingly pale blue wings and tail. Tail has dark tip. Ist-w: aged by retained juv coverts.
