Bird Description
Common in Rio Grande Valley, TX in dense wood thickets and scrubby grass areas. Shy, staying on or near the ground. Best found by listening for its buzzy ‘tzeee’ call. Also gives a short ‘tsip.’ Song: a series of accelerating notes trailing off at end. Creeps around with tail cocked. ID: Distinctive. Fairly large and well proportioned. Simple color pattern, olive above, grayer on the head and below, but always look for brown-striped head.
