On migration often forms small flocks where can be heard giving its deep nasal ‘neep neep neep.’ Also found in mixed-species flocks. Very active, often switches direction as it walks, hangs, and descends branches. Much smaller than WHNU, it is frequently found at the end of twigs, hanging on cones looking for food.
