Rock Wren
Salpinctes obsoletus
ROWR
Order: Passeriformes | Family: Troglodytidae (Wrens)

Bird Description
Uncommon in barren areas with rocks and scree, often where little else lives. Elusive, walking most places, it will suddenly perch on the top of a rock. Looks around before excitedly bobbing up and down with exaggerated movements, often giving its ringing call note. From a distance, fairly nondescript brown above, buff below with indistinct supercilium and pale-tipped tail. But look closer…. Juv plumage held briefly, duller with unstreaked breast. Occasionally wanders e.
