Bird Description

Scarce on rocky or grassy slopes with scattered bushes. Feeds on the ground, occasionally sitting on perches, mostly to sing its fast twittered song. ID: Typical Aimophila with long bill. Bold head pattern on an otherwise bland bird. Rufous cap and eyestripe on gray face. Broad black lateral throat stripe contrasts with white malar. Bold eyering. Underparts uniform gray.
