Bird Description
Fairly common summer visitor, particularly in late spring. Sometimes seen from land, particularly in windy conditions. ID: Fairly large, with fat body. Wings narrow at base, slim and pointed, often angled back giving distinctive profile. Arches high in windy weather, but flaps and glides in calmer weather on bowed wings. At distance appears black with (but not always) pale central panel in underwing (HEPE and jaegers can have similar color pattern).
