SPPI
Order: Passeriformes | Family: Motacillidae (Wagtails and Pipits)

Bird Description
Uncommon in grass prairies, preferring bare patches on hilltops. Sings from high in sky, a cascading series of 'shirl' notes, before dropping like a stone to the ground. In winter, found in a variety of grassland, particularly with damp areas. Always very hard to find. Call a 'squeet'. ID: Fat-bodied and short-tailed, holds its chest forward with small head tilted back. Large pale bill. Big pale area around eye and broad wing bars. Breast streaking mostly restricted to upper breast, creating a visible band in flight. Boldly streaked back with extensive white on outer tail feathers. Doesn't bob tail.
