Very rare, mostly summer, breeds s. TX.. Like NOPA but subtly slimmer, longer-tailed, shorter primary projection, and thicker-billed. Face typically lacks white eye arcs and has extensive dark mask. Underparts brighter and more extensive yellow. Some birds show intermediate characters. Songs similar.
