White-eyed Vireo
Vireo griseus
WEVI
Order: Passeriformes | Family: Vireonidae (Vireos, Shrike-Babblers, and Erpornis)

Bird Description
Fairly common in deciduous woodland edges and hedgerows, particularly with tangles. Tends to stay lower than other vireos, often at head height, but can be a devil to see. It growls at you, ‘spit and see if I care’ or ‘come at me real quick’ — a bird with attitude. ID: Relatively bland with green upperparts, gray nape and yellow flanks on pale underparts. 2 wing bars. Although named after its white eye (dark in young fall birds), its bright yellow supra loral stripe is the most striking feature, creating spectacled look with narrower eyering. Adult: pale iris. 1st-fall: dark iris and fresh plumage.
