Worm-eating Warbler
Helmitheros vermivorum
WEWA
Order: Passeriformes | Family: Parulidae (New World Warblers)

Bird Description
Fairly common in a variety of deciduous forest. An early migrant like most s. breeders, it tends to stay in denser mid-level vegetation. Loves clumps of dead leaves where it snouts around for dinner. Very quiet and unobtrusive. Song is a dry trill, more insect-like than CHSP. ID: A large thick-set warbler with a broad tail and pointed head, enhanced in part by its large pointed bill. One plumage: khaki olive above, tawny breast, duller on belly and dark-centered undertail coverts. However, focus on the striped head pattern. 1st-w birds show rusty tips to tertials — with very good views!
