Bird Description
Uncommon, particularly on breeding grounds. Prefers pines in some areas, others evergreen. Often found around swamps and spanish moss further s. Tends to stay high in the canopy. Wintering birds often in palm trees where they may crawl around limbs like BAWW. Beautiful, sweet song with clear notes trailing off at end (CAWR qualities). Early migrant in spring and fall. Occasionally tries to winter in N. ID: A large flat-headed warbler with a very narrow tail. Bill really stands out: very long though easy to overlook among the complexities of such a striking head pattern. All plumages similar.
